The journalist Bahman Ahmadi Amouee appears in court
Bahman Ahmadi Amouee together with his lawyer, Faride Ghirat, appeared in front of Revolutionary Court Number 13 on Wednesday 6june and defended himself in front of Judge Sa-dat. Bahman was arrested in Hafter Tir on 22 Khordad last year when he was preparing a report about a women’s demonstration against the discriminatory laws against women,. Bahman was arrested and sent to Evin prison and released on bail after one week‘s detention.
At the beginning of the session, the prosecutor read the accusation that Bahman had acted against national security and had prepared propaganda against the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also that he had conspired about and participated in the demonstration, which was held without permission and which interrupted public life. The prosecutor asked the court to convict him on these charges.
The court appearance should have taken place on the 13th Efand last year but was postponed until 16th Khordad.
The prosecutor referred to Bahman’s reports in previous years which had been published in many different newspapers as showing evidence of his propaganda against the government.
The prosecutor also referred to some petitions which were started by many different journalists and signed by Bahman and this also was further evidence of propaganda against the government. He stated that Bahman Ahamdi Amouee was guilty of signing such reports which supported Iranian journalists in prison. Bahman’s lawyer defended him of this accusation and stated that it was not relevant to this court but the judge refused this claim.
Faride Ghirat defended Bahman against all of these charges and asked the judge to find him not guilty.
The verdict of the court is expected to be published within 10 days.
