no war on iran

I am Parvin Fahimi—
A mother from this country, a mother who believes in peace, a mother whose child, Sohrab Arabi, was taken from her by this very regime during Iran’s 2009 Green Movement.

On February 28, my brother is scheduled for surgery. It is Ramadan. After the pre-dawn meal, we send them off to the hospital. To ease my anxiety, I lie down for a while.

I think today is the thirtieth day of the war… or maybe the thirty-first, I’ve lost count. It’s the ninth of Farvardin. We heard several loud explosions in east Tehran again, and then the electricity went out.

I am writing this while six days have passed since the war began, and my family and I have officially become displaced by it.
